COWRA JOURNEY INDONESIAN COMMUNAL HISTORY 19-20 March 2022

COWRA JOURNEY INDONESIAN COMMUNAL HISTORY 19-20 March 2022
Did you know that during WW2, during 1942-1943, about 1,200 Indonesians including women and children, were detained in Cowra, NSW? Unfortunately, many of them died unprepared for the Australian weather in June, which marks the start of winter.
Among the Indonesians buried in Cowra cemetery are political prisoners of the Dutch colonial government exiled to Boven Digul, Papua, in the 1920-1930s.
A wonderful weekend visiting and hearing about the Indonesian community with the AIA. During the trip, we will learn more about the role this region played during WW2 and the wreath-laying ceremonies soon after we arrive.
We also provide BBQ on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. All meals are included for members.
So don’t miss this great opportunity! Book your trip now!
